Savage Arms offers a wide variety of firearms with threaded muzzles. Muzzle threads can vary by specific model, and caliber, and can always be verified with the Service Dept if a serial number is provided.
The list below can be used as a general guide to the threading patterns used, please contact us for confirmation if you have any questions about your specific firearm:
1/2-28 is used on most firearms .223 and smaller bore diameter, including current production rimfires.
5/8-24 is used on most firearms .243 and larger bore diameter
9/16-28 is used on ALL firearms with on/off twist brakes, such as the 110 Long Range Hunter or Bear Hunter. It is also found on the 110 Classic.
A few of the most common exceptions:
Target rifles such as the 110 Elite Precision are threaded 5/8-24, even in .223, due to the thickness of the barrel.
400 Legend and 450 Bushmaster guns are threaded 11/16-24
Some older rimfire guns may be found with 1/2-20 threading
Export or international models may have metric threading
